Super8 Shots it is an independent Film Festival, with objectives in promoting film as a small medium format. It is aimed at the film makers, enthusiasts, artists and musicians as well as the community. Super8 Shots is a rare festival experience where Super8 film enthusiasts from a wide spectrum intersect.

This year, Galway City will set the stage for a unique cinematic festival experience. Super8 Shots audiences will experience contemporary Super8 films while being offered an opportunity to appreciate the format’s legacy.

Many people share family memories on 8mm film and are only discovering, re-discovering this fantastic format. Through a variety of events (film projections, workshops,visual arts, dj/visuals) the festival is designed to attract a wide range of people of different ages and backgrounds with super8 as a common denominator.

The Super8 Shots Festival Director, Julien Dorgere, is also the founder of Super8Ireland, the leading experts in Irish 8-mm film, specializing in Super 8 film equipment (cameras, projectors, accessories), Super8 film and Super8 to DVD conversions. Super8 Ireland, one of the main sponsors of the festival, was founded in 2001 and caters for 8-mm film enthusiasts wishing to shoot/transfer super8 film, as well as for customers seeking to convert old cine reels to digital format.
