Submissions can be made in both 8mm and digital formats, although all footage must have been shot on film originally.
Where high res film are available, email submissions are acceptable with links/attachments of work. The submission date for email applications is June 10th to allow time for hard copies to be sent, if selected.
- Any genres are accepted (documentary, fiction, experimental, music videos, etc.).
- The Festival accepts only films which have been shot on 8mm film format (Super8, Single, Normal8)
- Entries should be no longer than 15 minutes. Whether the entry is 1 minute long or 8 minutes long does not matter as long as the quality is there, so don’t overdo it and don’t underdo it, whatever seems right. Only one entry per applicant will be accepted.
- Submissions may be on actual 8mm film reels, but are also accepted in digital format (DVD, .avi file, quicktime .mov file, Mini-DV Tape). In other words, your film can also be digitally edited but all original content must be 8mm film.
- Preference will be given to films shot in 2009, 2010 and 2011, although films shot earlier will also be considered.
- A film may not be submitted twice to the festival.
- Submissions should include the date of the work, a short biography + synopsis of the film on a CD/Email (ready for website if selected) (and images of work or links to where work can be viewed if available).
- SAE should be included if you would like your submission returned. If you are submitting from outside Ireland, we will send you relevant details.
- Copyright for all sound and images should be obtained.
- Note that if you haven’t processed your super8 cartridge yet, you should allow for 12 days or so for film processing. Andec Film in Berlin, for instance, who process colour film twice a week and black&white once a week, can also do same day processing (as an option).
